Benefits of an Online Tutor

Why an online tutor? Why not just meet face to face for a session? We are living in unprecedented times with unpredictable schedules! Let me explain some benefits!

As a working parent, you understand the complexities of bringing your child to their scheduled appointments/events. In the age of technology, we have all of the tools at our fingertips to make learning more accessible and more productive from anywhere. With the click of a button, you can schedule your child on a tutor’s calendar and be immediately ready for a session.

Last year, while sick with pneumonia, some of my students did not want to lose out on tutoring sessions. Many of them requested I facetime them to help them with homework, explain concepts, and go over some materials they were struggling with. Therefore, like any dedicated teacher, I was able to help these students prepare for exams, without worrying of getting them sick. Now, with the onset of COVID-19, we’re in a similar situation, and I have had countless hours of tutoring with individuals across the country at their leisure. I now see that this is the way of the future.

Nonetheless, I have been asked many questions from parents regarding the online environment. Parents often believe their child will be less focused on virtual tutoring and that it may be an ineffective learning experience. Studies have shown that the reality is quite the opposite! Students are FAR more engaged and prefer this method of teaching. There are more tools accessible that can easily be shared, and virtual education forces the student to be attentively looking at the screen and involved.
